The Seeds of Change is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of all our children and young people. It is our aim to provide a caring learning environment where young people feel safe and supported and are able to achieve their full potential. We are fully committed to ensuring that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support young people, families, and staff at the Seeds of Change.
We take our responsibilities in relation to safeguarding and child protection very seriously. Our recruitment procedures follow 'Safer Recruitment' guidelines. All staff who come into contact with our young people are appropriately checked. Staff receive safeguarding training when they begin at the Seeds of Change and refresher training is carried out every year. Any changes to our safeguarding policy or new/revised legislation will be communicated immediately. In addition, we work very closely with other professionals to ensure our children and young people are kept safe.
Charlie Roberts is our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and she is assisted by Rachel Wiles and Katherine Dillon who are Deputy Safeguarding Leads in her absence. One of the three Safeguarding Leads is always available to discuss safeguarding concerns.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our children are communicated with the appropriate referring body. If a member of staff is concerned about a child’s welfare, then immediate action will be taken.
If a member of staff has concerns which relate to the actions or behaviour of another member of staff, then we have a full whistle blowing policy which will be followed.
