Coach (Bedfordshire Region)

Part Time (5 days a week) Term Time Only

The Seeds of Change offer a range of education and personal development courses for young people and adults. Our work is done through the use of specialist coaching techniques and through interaction with horses.

We are currently recruiting for a Coach to work part time, 5 days a week (30 hours), term time only. This role involves delivering our programmes to vulnerable or challenging, disengaged young people. The role will be based at our Centre in Bedfordshire.

Safeguarding is one of our key priorities and potential applicants should be fully aware of and compliant with Keeping Children Safe in Education legislation. It is our aim to provide an environment where young people feel safe and supported and are able to achieve their full potential.


The role will be to work alongside our existing team, delivering programmes from 6 weeks to 12 months in duration. You will be responsible for coaching through the equine facilitated approach and by using the Seeds of Change structure and programme content.

Working with individuals and groups, you will be responsible for coaching them towards a range of learning outcomes in a supported and empathetic way. Gaining the clients trust and working through a range of tasks and activities that will support the learner in developing skills that will help them in their everyday life.

The Individual

We are looking for a self-aware individual, with a mature approach, who is easily able to relate to people of all ages through good inter-personal skills. This person will need to be empathetic and non-judgemental with a fundamental interest in building and developing skills and potential in others. The individual should have the ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people.

They will need to possess good clear communication skills and be able to deliver coaching to meet all kinds of learning styles. Resilience, confidence and enthusiasm are very important, as is an ability to manage the administration associated with these programmes.

The individual should possess a good sound working knowledge of horses, and have experience of working within the mental health or education sectors. Experience of working with vulnerable or challenging, disengaged young people would also be desirable.

Good PC skills and the ability to work on their own initiative with a clear understanding of client confidentiality and boundaries are important.

This person will be required to occassionally travel to different sites and therefore it is essential to possess a car and a full driving license.


The successful candidate should have a sound equine knowledge plus coaching experience in a practical and/or classroom setting. Some experience in the mental health industry and working with complex behaviours would be desirable.

  • Maths and English GCSE or equivalent


  • Counselling or Youth work qualification
  • Teaching Qualification
